Where is Casa TenaTu from?
We are proud natives of the Otomí Sierra of Hidalgo.
Specifically from the communities of: El Banco, Tutotepec, Medio Monte and Juntas del Río, belonging to the municipality of San Bartolo Tutotepec, Hidalgo, Mexico.
Like all the natives of our region, we convey the worldview of our magical Otomí Sierra through our embroidery.
In which we capture our flora and fauna, as well as the customs and traditions of our region.
From grandmothers, aunts, cousins, neighbors, etc. Practically everyone does everything. From drawing, cutting fabric, designing, to doing the embroidery, which is a very beautiful but somewhat tiring activity.
The pandemic forced us to look for new ways to sell, as in 2020, we were prohibited from selling in the main squares of the municipal seats. Most of the people who dedicate ourselves to making embroidery sell a lot in the "plazas" or in other places they are known as "tianguis" (open-air markets).
That is why, as a result of the pandemic, we opened our social media accounts and started the adventure of online sales.
Thank you for taking the time to read our little story. :)
